Claims and grievance processes

A clear record helps you track a claim, understand a decision and raise concerns through the appropriate route.

Before treatment where possible

Check your policy’s notice process and ask the hospital about cashless authorisation. Cashless service is not a guarantee that all costs are covered. In an emergency, prioritise care and follow the insurer’s applicable notification requirements.

Keep a complete claim file

Retain invoices, discharge summaries, prescriptions, policy schedules and correspondence. Ask for the exact reason if a document is requested or a claim is reduced. Submit information through the insurer’s verified channel and retain reference numbers.

Raise a complaint

Begin with the insurer’s grievance officer. Explain the issue, the resolution you seek and the relevant evidence. If unresolved, review Bima Bharosa and the Insurance Ombudsman procedures. Eligibility, time limits and jurisdiction must be checked on their current official sites.

Avoid grievance scams

Verify addresses and contact details independently. Do not pay someone claiming a fee is needed for an IRDAI complaint or guaranteed claim approval. SereneLife does not submit real claims or complaints and has no authority to direct an insurer.

Questions to take with you

  • Which policy clause supports the decision?
  • What is my complaint reference number?
  • Which escalation route and procedure apply?
